Swimming
The sport of swimming is very popular among students of all abilities at Welbeck. Students are taking advantage of the exceptional facility of a brand new indoor heated pool with sessions taking place almost everyday. Many students have decided to take up swimming as a major sport as it is an option in the winter and spring terms, which means that the pool is getting full use.
Anyone who is keen to train for general fitness, competition, to improve technique or indeed for recreational purposes is welcome and the morning sessions are proving to be a very valuable resource indeed. The pool is not only open to those who can swim proficiently; it is available for the beginner aswell. Open on Sundays and most evenings students are frequently attending sessions, keen to develop there own level of skill, whatever that might be.
The ‘Squad’ is available for students who are of an advanced standard and members regularly train with the aid of an outside coach, Mr Tony Hall. Tony is extremely well qualified and the students appreciate someone who puts as much effort and time in as he does. He splits the time between those who are more advanced with those who want to improve.
Recent competitions entered by the squad have been the National Schools Championships and the Leicestershire County Championships.
