Cricket is offered as a major sport during the Summer Term. It is open to both males and females although currently there are no female takers. We run two teams and both teams compete in a number of fixtures against opposition from Independent schools such as Kings Grantham, Mount St Marys, Queen Elizabeth II and more. We have two excellent pitches and the use of all weather wicket as required.
Matches and training sessions take place on both Wednesday and Saturday afternoons. Training is a mixture of nets with opportunities to improve both batting and bowling and fielding drills under the careful watch of a qualified cricket coach.
Winter indoor nets start in the Spring term. Theses are held one night a week at the National Cricket Centre, Loughborough University. These excellent facilities are also used by the England Cricket team.
The Welbeck invitational 20:20 competition gives opportunity to for the students to show their skills in the newest and most exciting form of the game. This is held on a Sunday in the Summer and is a great success.
The cricket Inter-house competition is run towards the end of the term and proves a well break from revision.
