Social Life
The college generates an environment where students can enjoy a relaxed and varied social programme. There are many staff organised activities the students can participate in; this includes cultural visits, concerts, cinema trips and theme park days, like Alton Towers. We encourage our students to organise their own entertainment, for example themed socials and discos. External activities are also organised by the students and these are always staff supervised – these include dinner nights, ‘rock’ concerts, paintballing, horse riding and diving.
In the evenings students are free to relax with their friends and make use of the communal areas, for example, the house social areas. At the weekend the Quorum Club is open.
The tutors within the house encourage the students to develop their social skills through regular tutor group meetings as well as social nights out (at least once a term). Each tutor group has a mix of upper and lower sixth students.
During the week students may get permission to go into the local village or town to carry out personal business. At the weekend they are allowed to go off site; subject to house staff and parental permission. For example, on a Saturday afternoon they may go into Loughborough to do some shopping or go sailing on a Sunday afternoon at a local sailing club.
