Our engineering graduates work at the forefront of technology, managing projects worth millions of pounds. The challenges are unique: with such significant responsibilities, our Armed Services all over the world depend on you to get it right.
Few other employers can offer such exposure to current and future technologies. Thanks to our size, we can also provide extensive personal and professional development opportunities. Our huge internal job market brings many varied career paths, and our emphasis on continued training and development will quickly develop your technical and managerial skills.
Each individual has a personal training and development plan. Together with a mentor, you will draw up a plan that maps out your development through work experience supplemented by formal training courses. There are many different training courses on offer, all of which will help you develop your core skills and competencies in preparation for the challenges that lie ahead. Courses are likely to include communication skills, team building and leadership and commercial awareness.
The programme lasts up to two years and is accredited by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, the Institute of Electrical Engineers or the Royal Institute of Naval Architects, leading to the opportunity to become chartered at an early stage in your career.
Jon Millar graduated with a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and now works in acquisition of Command and Support Information Systems in the Defence Procurement Agency:
